How
to Spawn Camp |
Spawn
Camping is a somewhat controversial subject in
Aces High. Some players loathe it while others
love it. Most of those who love to participate
in it deny any and all involvement when accused.
Regardless of how you feel about it, it is a part
of the game. If you dislike the concept of spawn
camping then I suggest you move on and do not
view this page. Spawn Camping is to tank crews
what Vulching is to pilots. Most Spawn Camps start
as a result of a base defense. The enemy gets
pushed back to their spawn point and eventually
the spawn point gets camped. What I mean by camped
is that defending armored vehicles park right
near the area where the enemy vehicles appear
or spawn. In doing so the enemy’s offensive
ground attack is now suppressed. The spawn point
will stay contained until the base from which
the enemy is spawning from is either captured,
disabled, or the spawn camp itself is broken.
Having played now for some time I enjoy field
kills the most – they are the true test
of a ground vehicle pilot (GVer). But a spawn
camp here and there is fun every now and then.
Listed below are some tips to assist you in your
spawn camp ventures. If you feel that I left something
out than by all means contact me at the link below.

Factors
Crucial to a Successful Spawn Camp |
| 1. Strength
in Numbers - Trying to spawn camp
alone is very difficult, in fact the odds are
against you especially when multiple enemy vehicles
start to spawn. It is best to camp with some company
besides the jokes and stories help the time pass. |
| 2. Locating
the Spawn Point - Is not an easy
task by any means. Normally the tip of the spawn
arrow on the clipboard map is exactly where the
enemy will appear. Also the direction the vehicle
will be facing when it spawns is normally is the
same direction of the spawn arrow. |
| 3. Position
- Where you park at the spawn point is critical
to your survival. Below is a diagram of what I
call the "Point of Attack Circle". You
do not want to place yourself at the enemy's 12
o'clock position as they will acquire a firing
solution on you very easily and due visual delay
in the spawn process, you may never even see the
enemy round coming. The 3 o'clock and the 9 o'clock
positions provide excellent broad side shots however
the enemy may be able to get his turret around
in time to fire at you. The 6 o'clock or rear
position is the best spot to park at provided
you can set up there. Sometimes the terrain will
not allow for this. At the 6 o'clock position
the enemy will have a hard time getting his turret
around to fire at you. Also, if the spawn point
is getting crowded with campers at least try to
spread out. Don't stay huddled in one spot so
a formation of enemy bombers can fly in low and
wipe the camp out. |

| 4.
Use of Terrain - If you have the
proper terrain to hide behind then by all means
use it, thats what its there for - Hills, Shrubs,
Trees, etc. Just remember some terrain acts as
cover while other acts as concealment. Cover protects
you from a round such as a hill. Concealment only
provides you with stealth and will not protect
you from a round such as small shrubs. Also try
to get into an elevated position too if possible.
It's better to be on the high ground when you
are attacking. |

the Terrain as Cover |
| 5.
Ammunition - Choose the right
ammunition for the mission selected. For this
particular mission Armor Piercing (AP) Rounds
are most suitable. |
| 6.
Camouflage Selection - Yes the
camouflage color scheme that you choose can make
a difference espicially when you are trying to
blend in with the current map terrain. |

Engines - As a courtesy to other
players in the area, if you are not moving then
shut your engine off. If you have to move or re-position
yourself then let other players know and if you
see a set of low flying bombers headed your way
then by all means its "NASCAR" time
- "Gentlemen, start your engines" and
run for cover. |
